Plant Protection Department Launches the 17th Training Course for Pesticide Traders

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan El-Nomani, President of Sohag University, the Plant Protection Department at the Faculty of Agriculture inaugurated the activities of the 17th Training Course for Professionals Engaged in the Trade of Pesticides, in cooperation with the Pesticides Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation. The training course is being held at the Faculty of Agriculture, Al-Kawamel Campus.

The inauguration was attended by Prof. Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of Sohag University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs; Prof. Dr. Zainhom Shaikhoun, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs; Prof. Dr. Abdel Alim Saad Soliman, Head of the Plant Protection Department; and Prof. Dr. Ashraf Okasha Nassar, Professor of Entomology and Director of External Relations at Sohag University.

During the event, Dr. Mai Togan, Course Coordinator, highlighted the importance of organizing such specialized training programs as part of Sohag University’s commitment to fulfilling its mission of community service and environmental development.

She emphasized that the University’s role extends beyond being a center for education, science, and knowledge. It also serves as an essential partner in addressing societal issues and challenges that directly affect people’s lives, particularly those related to agricultural production, food safety, and environmental sustainability.

The training course aims to enhance the knowledge and professional competencies of pesticide traders and promote the responsible and safe handling of pesticides in accordance with applicable regulations and professional standards.
