History of the Faculty
It was established and started its work from the academic year 1996/1997, and the work began in its building in Al-Kawthar neighborhood starting from the academic year 1997/1998, and it was moved to the current headquarters in Al-Kawamil in the new city of Sohagin the academic year 2013/2014
Faculty Vision
The faculty aims at preparing distinguished agricultural cadres which cope with the renewable needs of the labor market locally and internationally , conducting the applies scientific researches of the economic return ,society and environment service and performing a leading role in the qualification and the agricultural guidance.
Faculty Mission
The faculty is committed to prepare distinguished agricultural cadres which master the technical skills and the knowledgeable scientific basics according to the referential academic national criteria of the agricultural science sector, the needs of the local labor market and conducting the applied scientific researches and also as an experience house for presenting the technical and the scientific consultation which participate in the environment development and serve the Sohagian society.
Faculty Objectives
The Faculty of Agriculture, Sohag University aims to contribute to solving the problems that facing the improvement of agriculture production through the following objectives:
• Graduating the qualified cadres in the field of agriculture production to work in the various agriculture sectors.
• Carrying out applied scientific research in the fields of plant production, which aims to study the problems which encountered in improving and increasing production and providing appropriate solutions to them.
• Contributing to the development of agricultural awareness of farmers and those in the field of agriculture and the publishing of modern information in the field of agricultural production.
Strategic Goals
1- Preparing a graduate capable of competing in the labor market.
2- Contributing the sustainable development in society, developing the environment and increasing self-resources.
3- Developing the system of graduate studies and scientific research.
4- Developing the skills and capabilities of faculty members and their assistants.
5- Supporting the institutional capacity, developing the administrative structure, and developing the administrative and human capacities of the administrative body
